I’m sure a lot of you know that there are many, many, many popular books I’ve not read. Like there are heaps. And it kills me. So here’s a list of some the more embarrassing ones!
- Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
I own this whole trilogy and I have for a few months but I just haven’t picked it up yet… I want to! Especially with the movie adaptation being released this year, but I just keep putting it offΒ for some reason!
- Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
I’m sure a lot of you know about this too… I have read the first book! And I thought it was meh… But I’ve been told it gets a lot better and I really want to love this series and understand all the fandom things I see on Tumblr and blogs and Instagram because not knowing KILLS MY SOUL. But I own the whole series now! So I’m going to read it… I’m going to marathon it all, it’s going to happen! I promise!
- The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
I actually own this and I’ve read the first 3 pages. I really enjoyed those 3 pages, too! I know this series is super super popular but I just have SO MANY books to read that I haven’t gotten to it yet. I’m hoping to in the next few months though.
- Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
I am so on the fence about this series! I tried to read the first book when I was younger but I just couldn’t get into it. But lately I’ve been thinking about buying it because I want to read the Bloodlines series… Let me know your thoughts on the Vampire Academy series in the comments!
- Red Rising by Pierce Brown
This trilogy has so much hype surrounding it. A lot of people love it and a lot of people hate. I do own the first book now but I keep putting it off because I’m worried I won’t like it… But I really want to like it because I have a lot of love for the covers. - Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan
I guess technically this shouldn’t be on the list because I’m reading this series now (I’m up to The Battle of the Labyrinth and I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH) but it has taken me ages and ages and ages to get to it. This series deserves ALL THE HYPE.
- The Diviners by Libba Bray
I have owned this book for months now and I still haven’t read it. I want to but it’s long and I just keep putting it off because time is fleeting and I just need to buckle down and read it. - Jane Austin
I think you all know I am not a fan of classics so it should come as no surprise that I haven’t read anything by Jane Austin. I see her books all over Booktube and the covers are almost pretty enough to convince me to buy them but I just don’t see myself enjoying them… Maybe one day I’ll own them, but for now they will stay on this list.
So there are 8 books/series I am ashamed to have not read yet… There’s probably so many more but these are the only ones I can think of right now. Perhaps at the end of the year I will consult this list and see how many I managed to cross off. In the meantime though, let me know in the comments what books you’re ashamed to have not read yet!
I’m glad you’re loving Percy Jackson! It’s one of my favorites. π You definitely should continue with Harry Potter and Miss Peregrine’s. I love both of them too! π Vampire Academy and Red Rising are still on my TBR too though, so you’re not alone. π

Harry Potter and Miss Peregrine’s are two of my favourite series! So obviously, I recommend. I’m in the same boat when it comes to The Final Empire. Since I’m a huge fantasy lover, it feels especially bad that I’ve not read it yet, as everyone just shouts “great for fantasy fans!!!” every time it’s mentioned. I think it’s just the sheer size of each book. I’ve already started two other fantasy series where each book is huge, I think this one needs to wait a while! Though one day…it will be tackled haha! π Great post!

It’s been a few years since I last read VA but it’s a fun series, with strong characters. It works best if you don’t think of the vampire world too much when you read it, but it’s a fun summer read in any case.

I tried to read Library of Souls but I haven’t read the first book so I ended up not reading it. I haven’t read Harry Potter because sometimes I get negative feedback on it, so I prefer the movies; I’ve only seen 2 though.
