MINI REVIEWS: Harry Potter #1 & #2 by J.K. Rowling

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

I’ve recently been reading the Harry Potter series and wanted to review them all for you. But since I didn’t have enough thoughts for the first two books to write individual reviews, I decided to do a couple mini reviews!

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone &
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

I read Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone for the first time last year and to be completely honest, I thought it was a bit meh then. But I definitely enjoyed it a lot more this time around! I still thought it was a bit slow but that’s understandable since a lot of background information was needed. But I really enjoyed the introduction to this absolutely amazing world and all of it’s wonderful and colourful characters! I didn’t think the writing was super great, it definitely wasn’t anything special but I am really glad I gave this book a second chance before continuing on with the series!

I was told that the second book was a lot better and it definitely was! It still wasn’t fantastic and once again, there was a lot more background but I really liked it. Just like in the first book I loved the characters, but a couple of them did really bug me. One constant thought that was running through my mind the entire time I read this was: WHY U BREAK SO MANY RULES, CHILDREN? But I thought the plot definitely improved and the pace picked up but it was still a little slow. For a sequel, this was definitely better than I expected.
