This is a hard one for me because most of the books I read are set in America. Part of the appeal of books for me is that they’re not set in Australia because I get to read about somewhere I haven’t been before but want to visit. But I managed to find 10 books set outside the United States so here we go!

the sidekicks10 // The Sidekicks by Will Kostakis – Australia
This book was so good and also pretty emotional and I quite liked that it was set in my country.

9 // Love, Lucy by April Lindner – Europe
So I actually kind of hated this novel BUT I did like that it was set in Europe, especially Italy, because as you can see I haven’t read many books set in Europe.

8 // Me Before You by Jojo Moyes – Englandme before you
Everybody and their mother knows about this book and when I remembered it’s set in England, it HAD to go on this list!

7 // The Messenger by Markus Zusak – Australia
It’s been a while since I read this but I really enjoyed the Sydney setting!

stolen6 // Stolen by Lucy Christopher – Australia & England
I LOVED THIS BOOK and I loved that it was set in the Australian desert because I have never read a book set in the Aussie outback.

5 // Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling – England
Harry Potter is my new favourite series of ever and when I saw this week’s TTT topic, I knew it had to be on the list.

4 // The Book Thief by Markus Zusak – Germanythe book thief
I adore this book. It was actually the first historical fiction-y book I read as well as the first book I read set in Germany.

3 // Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins – France
This book is ALL OF THE CUTE and the fact that it’s set in Paris just makes it better.

a darker shade of magic2 // A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab – England
I love V.E. Schwab and I love ADSOM. I think the cool thing about this is it’s set in not just one fantastical London, but four unlike all the others on the list.

1 // One Day by David Nicholls – England
This book broke my heart and I couldn’t resist putting it on this list because it’s set in England but not London and I really like that.

  1. Love the post! I also put Me Before You and Harry Potter on my list. I mean, duh, I HAD TO 😛 but instead of Anna and the French Kiss, I put Isla and the Happily Ever After because it’s my favorite and it has Barcelona in addition to France 😀 I have A Darker Shade of Magic on the top of my TBR because I have a feeling it’s gonna be great and people won’t seem to shut up about it hahaha I probably would recommend Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Prague) and The Wrath and the Dawn (Afghanistan) if you haven’t read them 🙂 Also, I’ve heard great things about Written in the Stars (Pakistan) but I haven’t read it either. 2. I didn’t know that Me Before You was set in England! Of course, I haven’t read it, so how would I know? It is crazy how many books are set in America! Great list! I’ll have to check these out. 🙂

  3. Excellent list! I’ve read and loved many of these and am adding Anna and the French Kiss to my TBR because I’ve seen it on nearly every list I’ve looked at so far 🙂
